  • POP3 host: pop.gmail.com

What are the Gmail settings for iPhone?

  1. Before we get to the rest of the steps, you need to enable IMAP settings in Gmail:
    • Open Gmail and tap on the gear icon.
    • Open Settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
    • Tap ‘Enable IMAP’ in the IMAP Access section.
    • Do not make any other changes and then save the settings.
  2. Now, open iPhone and go to its ‘Settings.’
  3. Navigate to the ‘Passwords & accounts section and tap ‘Add account.’
  4. Select ‘Google’ and type in your Gmail address.
  5. Tap ‘Next’, enter the password, and tap ‘Next’ again.
  6. Take the ‘Mail’ toggle towards the ‘ON’ position and ‘Save’ the settings.

  1. First, enable the IMAP settings as mentioned above.
  2. Then, tap on the ‘File’ tab in Outlook.
  3. Select the ‘Add Account’ button in the account settings.
  4. Now, select ‘Manual Setup’ and choose ‘Next.’
  5. Choose ‘POP or IMAP’ from the options and select ‘Next.’
  6. Now, enter the following details in the IMAP account:
  • For Account type- enter POP or IMAP
  • For Incoming mail server- enter imap.gmail.com
  • In the Outgoing mail server- type smtp.gmail.com
  • And, enter your Gmail id and password
  1. Now, select ‘More Settings’ and tap on the Outgoing Server tab.
  2. Tick-mark the box next to ‘My outgoing server requires authentication.’
  3. After that, choose ‘Use same settings as my incoming mail server.’
  4. Now, tap on the ‘Advanced’ tab and enter these details:
  • Incoming server for IMAP- 993 or 143
  • Incoming server encrypted connection- SSL/TLS
  • Outgoing server (SMTP)- 465 or 587
  • Outgoing server encrypted connection- SSL/TLS
  1. Click ‘OK’ after entering these details and then tap ‘Next.’
  2. Select ‘Close the window’ and you will see the ‘You’re all set’ message on your screen.

Gmail settings for Thunderbird

  1. Before you move on, enable the IMAP settings in Gmail.
  2. Now, open your Thunderbird account.
  3. Go to the Mail Account Setup page from the ‘Settings’ menu.
  4. Type your name, email address, password, and hit the ‘Continue’ button.
  5. Now, tap on the box next to IMAP (remote folders) and select ‘Manual config.’
  6. Under the Server hostname section, enter the following details:
  • Incoming: imap.gmail.com
  • Port : 993 (SSL) or 143
  • Outgoing: smtp.gmail.com
  • Port : 25 or 465 (SSL)
  1. Now, Click ‘Re-test’ and select ‘Create Account.’
  2. To check or read any Gmail messages on Thunderbird, click on ‘read messages.’

Here are the Gmail settings for Android

  1. Primarily, enable the IMAP settings on Gmail.
  2. Tap on the email icon on your android.
  3. Now, enter your email ID and password.
  4. Click on the ‘Manual Setup’ option and select ‘IMAP’ account.
  5. On the screen that appears, enter your Gmail username and password.
  6. For the incoming server settings, enter these details:
  • IMAP Server- imap.gmail.com
  • Port- 993 or 143
  • Security type- SSL
  1. Tap on the ‘Next’ option.
  2. For outgoing server settings, enter the following:
  • SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com
  • Port: Either 25 or 465
  • Security type: SSL
  1. Hit the ‘Next’ button and select the frequency for email checking.
  2. Click ‘Done’ in the end.
